My weekends are usually well planned.
Saturday morning workout, then errands most of the day. Sunday morning church and then the usual weekly meal prep, clothes prep and work for prep for the week.
This weekend I threw planning to the wind and it was great!
Our weekend touched all of the senses- sights, sounds, smells, tastes. Saturday morning – still had the usual workout complete with cardio, lunges, squats and core work. Ran just a few errands and then we went to the Texas State Fair!
Can you say funnel cake? Turkey legs and sausage on a stick! Other sights and smells included fried Oreo cookies, fried pb&j with banana, even fried Frito pie (really!)
I couldn’t bring myself to stray that far off the path of a healthy lifestyle! Big Tex was dressed in his usual denim and cowboy hat and the games at the Midway were a great hit as well.
Sunday was another day of family fun in the fall sun. Early church service followed by lunch at Seasons 52. They have an awesome butternut squash soup on their fall menu.
After a quick change at home we went to the Dallas Arboretum. We had an incredible time in the pumpkin patch and literally smelling the roses. We took a blanket along and rested a bit with the view of White Rock Lake in front of us combined with a little people watching.
I love the gardens and all of the colors during the fall season. We ended our day having oysters on the half shell and a delicious bottle of sauvignon blanc. Rounded out the evening with a quick stop at Whole Foods for the weekly groceries.
Food this week will be “on the fly” but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. A weekend of beautiful weather, tons of laughter, and creating memories with my family that will last a lifetime!
Hugs and Love,
Gail
