WARRIOR LIFE: What Makes Me a Warrior

We are all Warriors in our own way.

What is a Warrior? What does it mean to be a Warrior? As I reflected on these questions, I realized that there is not one universal type of Warrior. Instead, cultivating the Warrior within is personal. It is an individual, lifelong journey along which each of us identifies differently with the characteristics of a Warrior. Today, I would love to share my unique story. Here’s what makes me a Warrior.

Warriors are grounded in purpose.
Why do you get up each morning? What drives you in life? For me, I find purpose in the things that I am passionate about. Like I talked about a few days ago, pursuing your passion is worth it! Read more about that here.

I have many passions in life and each gives me a unique sense of direction and fulfillment. At home, I love being a mom and I find purpose in my precious role as Corey’s mother. As a professional, leading a company and setting an example of success for other women in our society pushes me forward. In the gym, I am motivated by my passion for health and fitness. My philanthropy, Heart of a Warrior, provides me purpose in the role I play in giving back to the community and building a better tomorrow for future generations.

Discovering our unique purpose is one of the most self-actualized activities we can participate in. I encourage you to devote time daily to think about your purpose in life and to remember, Warriors live life with intention.

Warriors are confident in their roles and assertive along their journey.
As I thought about what makes me a Warrior, I realized that my upbringing had an incalculable impact on inspiring me to adopt the ways of a Warrior in my own life and later on, cultivate it in others.

I was lucky to grow up in an entrepreneurial family that emphasized the importance of ambition and raised me to be an assertive and confident woman. With a last name like Warrior, how could I not be? My father owned an insurance company so I was exposed to the ins and outs of the business world at a young age. Both of my parents also always encouraged me to go after what I wanted in life. They taught me to never let being a woman stop me from doing anything that any of the guys did. It was a lesson I took to heart.

Confidence and assertiveness have brought me to where I am in life today. Channeling those aspects of the Warrior spirit has kept me strong and smart in a male dominated industry. It has also given me the fire to relentlessly pursue what I want from life no matter how difficult.

Warriors are fearless in the face of obstacles.
We all face challenges in life. There are obstacles in the office, hurdles in your home life, and trials at the gym. Warriors embrace these hardships.Warriors never give up.

I face challenges every day in all areas of my life. Professionally, each risk taken is accompanied by the possibility of failure. As a working mom, I fight to balance my professional and home lives. In the gym, some days I feel exhausted and have to fight through my workout, channeling my Warrior energy. Sounds familiar, right?

Tell yourself that no challenge is too big for a Warrior. Warrior are fearless in the face of risks. Warriors fight to pursue their passions against all odds.

What makes you Warrior strong? I’d love to hear from you.

Hugs and love,
Gail
